These analyses are powered by the same data and reporting engine used in Insights, but Concierge surfaces them in chat instead of requiring you to run reports manually.

What kinds of spend analysis insights Concierge shares

You might see spend analysis messages that:

  • Highlight changes in spending over time
  • Call out large or unusual purchases
  • Surface trends across categories, merchants, or members
  • Identify concentrated areas of spend
  • Ask questions to help clarify or validate patterns

These spend analysis insights are generated automatically using your workspace data. The format, frequency, and content of these messages may change over time as we continue improving how Concierge analyzes and presents information.

When Concierge shares a spend analysis message, it may also suggest a few follow-up questions you can tap to explore the data further.


How to ask Concierge about your expenses

You can ask Concierge questions about your expense data and it will look up the answer for you, so you don’t have to build a search or stitch results together yourself.

To ask, send your question to Concierge in a supported chat. Concierge reads the context of where you’re chatting to scope the answer, so you don’t need to repeat details like the workspace name.

Examples:

  • “Who submitted the most Travel expenses last month?”
  • “Show all expenses over $500 this quarter.”
  • “Which categories increased the most from last month?”
  • “Which expenses are still unapproved?”
  • “How does March spending compare to February?”

After Concierge answers, it may suggest a few follow-up questions to help you dig deeper.

Where Concierge shares spend analysis insights

When Concierge analyzes spend proactively, it sends a message to the #admins room for that workspace. The message is visible to all members of that room.

Insights are shared periodically and may vary in timing, format, and level of detail.

You can ask Concierge your own expense questions in the #admins room for a workspace, or in your Concierge chat. In the #admins room, answers are scoped to that workspace. In your Concierge chat, questions can span all of the workspaces you have access to (for example, “Which workspace spent the most last month?” or “Show all my Travel expenses across all workspaces”).

Concierge and Insights use the same underlying data but serve different purposes:

  • Concierge proactively delivers relevant insights based on notable patterns, and answers your expense questions in natural language directly in chat.
  • Insights lets you analyze data and explore patterns on demand using visual dashboards.
